You'll be introduced to literary texts which represent the established genres that form the foundation of Western literary tradition.
In this module you will develop skills in contextual analysis relating to two different topics in literary studies.
You will analyse digital resources, evaluate the arguments of a range of literary critics, and present your own arguments and ideas in a written essay and an oral presentation.On the course your tutors will encourage you to develop your creativity as you go, giving useful and practical feedback to help you polish your work to perhaps even get it ready for publication.Your creative writing tutors are actively involved in writing and getting their work published.The assessment for this module consists of a mixture of written coursework and presentational assignments.This module introduces you to a range of potential approaches for the study of literature at university level.This module encourages you to take a holistic view of your programme of study, understanding and using links between modules, developing academic skills and using computer skills to become an effective independent learner.You’ll aim to become reflective in your work and learning, and be critical in decision making and thinking.You’ll explore how to present your ideas using the latest media, as well as more traditional approaches.Every year we offer various literature modules so you can tailor your degree around what interests you.You could take your own path and look beyond the well-known classics to discover other hidden gems.By reading and studying the work that interests you, you’ll hopefully be inspired to take your own creative writing further too.
